KANNAPOLIS - Firefighters rescued a boy Wednesday after he sank up to his torso in a mud pit at a Kannapolis construction site, fire officials say. Tracy Winecoff, the Kannapolis Fire Department’s Division Chief of Technical Services, said a group of children were walking in a construction area when one of them sunk into a hole in a marshy, muddy area of the site.
ELM CITY - A quadriplegic lost his life and two caretakers were rushed to the hospital after fire tore through the man’s home Tuesday evening. Authorities said the man died in a fire that engulfed his home. Nearly 50 firefighters from four departments turned out to battle the blaze, which Wilson County Emergency Management blamed on a portable propane-fueled gas heater.
DAVIDSON COUNTY - Three people, including two children, died early Tuesday morning in a mobile home fire in Wallburg, and investigators with the Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office are on the scene trying to determine what caused the blaze.
ROCKY MOUNT - On February 18, 2014 at 16:31 hours, City of Rocky Mount fire Units were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 509 Drexel Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found a single story home with moderate brown smoke coming from the exterior windows and doors in Divisions C and D.
GASTONIA - The Gastonia Fire Department responded to this house fire at Pine Bark Court and Junius Street this morning. The firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the garage end of the house.
LOUISBURG - The Louisburg Fire Department responded to a single vehicle wreck on Sunday, Feb 2nd at approx 12:55 p.m. Arriving units found a single vehicle down an embankment on it's side with 2 female victims trapped in the overturned car.
